General guidelines

are best read in their entirety. We publish a variety of things here at TSky Press, and due to the number of submissions we receive, the odds of publishing a review with us, for example, are better than the odds of publishing a book with us. That said, if your work is right for us, we'll publish it. We've published new work by authors with more than a dozen books already, and we've published cartoons by an 8-year-old. Maybe odds are not a terribly effective strategy for thinking about publishing. Who knows? It's bacon one day, bean curd the next. Both can be yummy.

OPEN:
Submissions to the journal

such as fiction, poetry, and hybrid texts, may be published in Tarpaulin Sky Literary Journal. Our next reading period for the journal will be February 2010. For full journal guidelines please click here.

OPEN:
Submissions of reviews and interviews

may be published on our Review & Interviews blog. We read review and interview submissions all year long. Writers whose work is accepted for publication receive any two Tarpaulin Sky Press trade paperbacks of their choice. Send a brief cover letter and your previously unpublished review to reviews[AT]tarpaulinsky[DOT]com, and be sure to include "Attn: Review Editors" in the subject line. Click here for a list of review copies currently available. Publishers may send review copies to Book Reviews ~ Tarpaulin Sky Press ~ PO Box 189 ~ Grafton, VT 05146

OPEN:
Submissions of news

may be published on our News & Notes blog. If you have something to say about a new journal, new book, new press, new reading series; and if it said newness will be of interest to the people who read TSky Press's books or journal, or--better yet!--includes TSky Press authors or journal contributors; and if you'd like to share this newness and can do so in a way that includes some chewy content and few superlatives, then please send your brief shoutout, sidebar, or feature article to our News Editor at news[AT]tarpaulinsky[DOT]com

CLOSED:
Submissions of chapbooks and full-length manuscripts

submitted during open reading periods may be published as chapbooks, trade paperbacks, and hardcovers.

Notifications for our 2009 chapbook reading period have been mailed and should arrive within the first week of 2010. Notifications for our full-length reading period will be mailed during February and March 2010.

Our next reading period for chapbooks will be August 2010, followed by full-length manuscripts in October 2010.
